You, too, can make it possible for children to enjoy a new instrument on their return to school, which will inspire them on their road to a musical education.
Thank you all donors
In September the Karel Komárek Family Foundation purchased 11 upright pianos for 5.3 million CZK that had been rejected by a Chinese client following a visit to Taiwan by the President of the Czech Senate. The Foundation decided to donate the instruments to Czech schools. Out of the 152 applications it received following the announcement of the donation, the Foundation selected 56 applicants who the commission judged had a genuine need of a new upright piano. The average age of the instruments at these schools is 49 years.
“We want these eleven instruments to become a symbol of Czech pride and solidarity. The Czech Republic is a successful and, most importantly, free country.”
We thank our partners who, together with us, decided to help another 7,000 gifted children, who are prevented from fully developing their talent by the difficult situation in the world today.

The KKFF was jointly founded by Karel Komárek and his wife, Štěpánka Komárková. The Foundation’s long-term focus is the support of Czech cultural heritage – its main project in this area is the Dvořák’s Prague music festival.
In addition to music, the Komáreks are also interested in the development of the Czech public arena, the environment and education, which are supported through the Karel Komárek Proměny Foundation.
The KKFF supports the Kennedy Center cultural centre in Washington, as well as talented individuals and active civic communities in the Czech Republic. This spring the KKFF made a rapid, significant contribution to the fight against the pandemic when it provided, at short notice, over twenty million crowns to two hundred and forty organisations providing care to senior citizens.
